Kerry Cordero

Personal Stylist

The Joy of Style

Fashion has always been an important part of Kerry’s life. She left her corporate sales job to pursue a career she loves. And, yes, she has always loved clothes! Personal styling felt like the perfect fit. Kerry Cordero is on a mission to show people, one beautiful outfit at a time, how to dress with purpose and live a life of intention and dreaming. We discuss the importance of not saving your best pieces and explore how ADHD is a secret superpower when it comes to design. And, of course, there’s nothing bad about being a rebel. All you need to do is rebel well.

Inspiration

The Velveteen Rabbit

This classic by Margery Williams is Kerry’s favourite childhood book. “It’s about becoming real and how you kind of have to live your life and get a little dirty”.

Dress Your Dreams

Yes, you can dress your dreams. Kerry has developed a “dress your dreams” card game inspired by her love of cards, tarot, feng shui and ancient Chinese medicine.

After you leave your bed, the first thing you come into contact with physically is your clothing and it should soothe you. It should excite you & energise you. Only have things against your body that you love. Wear what you love.

Entrepreneurship & ADHD

A number of famous entrepreneurs also happen to have ADHD. People like business mogul Sir Richard Branson, IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad and JetBlue founder David Neeleman. So Kerry, as an ADHDer, is in excellent company.

Did you know that people with ADHD are three times more likely to own their own business? Entrepreneurship fits perfectly with the ADHDer’s need for stimulation and willingness to take risks.

The design world can learn a lot from ADHD too. You could even say ADHD is a design superpower. After all, with their naturally low tolerance for unclear, overcomplicated design, ADHDers can offer valuable insight. Even a streamlined brand like Apple could learn some lessons. Kerry was not impressed with the Apple Podcasts app for a start.

When you have a stylist in your life, you have somebody with an artistic eye, who has your best interest at heart. And who wants you to look beautiful and feel irresistible in your clothes.

Style Notes

Rebel well. Even as a 7-year-old, Kerry knew she did not want to wear those yellow gauchos her mother was insisting on. Gauchos became fashionable in the late 1960s. They are wide, calf-length trousers, frequently made of leather and copied from a style worn by South American cowboys.

Don’t save your best for never. If you have a fabulous piece of heirloom jewellery you love, dig it out of hiding and wear it. Wear what you love. Find a way to be personally expressive with your style. As Kerry says, “Personal style is about making a choice. And you can always do something to choose to wear what you love.”

Be irresistible. Be fascinating. And, of course, rebel well.

I think ADHD is not really understood. Part of it is being a very creative thinker. There’s a vast untapped well of creativity in the ADHD world that the regular world could be studying, taking advantage of… getting into.
